Welcome to the official website of Sharon Hill Borough, Delaware County, Pa.

Chartered in 1890, the Borough is named for an estate which was known as "Sharon" and which at one time comprised almost 75 acres of the town, which covers .77 square miles. The estate was owned by Halliday Jackson, a Quaker, whose ancestors emigrated from Ireland in the early 1700's. Jackson's son, John, founded the Sharon Female Seminary on part of the grounds in the early 1800's and ever since that time, the property has been the home of institutes of learning. Academy Park High School is the current school to occupy the site.

Sharon Hill is ideally located and boasts convenient transportation by bus, trolley, or train.

In addition, the Philadelphia International Airport is just minutes away. The population of 5700+ as of the 2000 year census, includes approximately 1390 families. Churches of three denominations, Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Tully Memorial Presbyterian Church, and the Sharon Hill Christian Center, maintain their congregations here. Small businesses, as well as several corporations, conduct business in the Borough, including those located in the Industrial Park on Calcon Hook Road and two Shopping Centers on Chester Pike.

We are an "historic" town in that most of our homes are over fifty years old and many are 75 to 100 years and over in age. We have a mixture of large single homes, twins and row homes throughout the town and are especially proud of our well-kept parks, playgrounds and recreational areas. Two of the relatively new buildings in the Borough are the Sharon Hill Firehouse and Library.

Our website contains the vital statistics of our government, the various commissions and organizations and the personnel who help make Sharon Hill a desirable place to live. Look us over and learn about the workings of "small town America". If you are interested in any of the activities or organizations listed throughout the website, please do not hesitate to contact the Borough Hall or any elected official listed in the website.

Sincerely,
Robert O'Neill, Mayor
